Animation in the B2B funnel:
beyond the explainer

A lot of companies use animation for one thing: the explainer video. A minute or two explaining the solution. Product page, done.

Beyond the explainer,
through the whole journey.

That's a missed opportunity. Animation works in every funnel stage. It just looks different in each one.

Awareness: snackable content

Here you need to stand out among a hundred other posts. The audience doesn't know you yet, may have only just recognised their problem.

What works: short clips of 6 to 15 seconds. One observation, one hook, one visual idea. No logos, no pitches. Ideally in the tone that fits your brand, so recognition can start building.

Consideration: case studies and explainers

The prospect knows the problem now. They're looking at possible solutions.

What works: animations of 60 to 90 seconds telling a specific case. Problem, approach, result. Concrete and with numbers where you can. The classic explainer lives here.

Decision: ROI visualisations and demos

They know the problem. They're comparing vendors. They have enough context to want detail.

What works: personalised animations with sector-specific examples. Short 3D or motion clips of the product itself. ROI visualisations with their industry's numbers. Things can be longer and more specific here.

Retention: onboarding and updates

They're a customer. But churn exists.

What works: short onboarding animations that walk new users through your product. Update clips when a feature launches. The effect: fewer support tickets, higher retention, more adoption.

What this does for your marketing budget

When animation works at every stage, you don't have to produce separate content for each. You build a visual language that gets reused.

Awareness clips can borrow elements from the consideration video. ROI visualisations from decision can come back to awareness as standalone stat snippets. Onboarding can later show up in pitches.

It isn't making more animation. It's deploying animation more strategically. Same budget, more impact.
