Measuring animation:
the metrics that actually matter

Likes feel nice. A video with a thousand likes in a week is a good feeling.

But in B2B, a like isn't currency. The question your management asks is different. What did that animation get us?

The metrics that do count

View-through rate. How many people watch your video to the end? Or to a logical milestone like the 75% mark? This says something about whether your hook works and your story sticks.

Click-through rate. How many viewers move on to your site, demo or landing page? This is where content separates from conversion. A video with 10,000 views and 0% CTR does nothing for your business.

Sales qualified leads. How many leads who saw this video eventually became conversations sales can move on? This is the real business metric.

Cost per qualified lead. Production cost plus media spend divided by SQLs. This number you can compare with other channels, and you immediately have an argument for or against.

What we care less about

Likes, shares and comments are signals, not goals. They can mean something or they can mostly entertain your colleagues. Don't confuse the two.

View count without context says almost nothing. Ten thousand views from the wrong audience is worth less than a thousand from the right one.

What this delivers

When you bake these metrics into every campaign, you can do something many marketing teams can't. You can show your management the business value of animation without waving gut feeling around.

Next time you ask budget for a new production, you don't need a pitch. You have numbers.

A practical tip

Start small. Pick two metrics most relevant to your context. Measure them consistently across every production. After a few projects you'll see patterns you didn't expect. Which kind of opening works. Which videos keep working long-term. Which combinations of animation and placement return the most.

That's not extra work. That's a growing dashboard that helps you invest better.
